About

Geek Etiquette is written by Kirrily Robert (sometimes known as Skud), a Linux-using, Perl-programming geek from Melbourne, Australia.
GE’s been running, on and off, since 2005, and is currently updated at least weekly (and preferably more often). What I’m aiming for is the ultimate resource for poorly-socialised geeks who are interesting in becoming slightly less poorly-socialised.
My qualifications for writing this aren’t great: merely that I happen to enjoy reading etiquette manuals (especially antique ones, the cheesier the better), am somewhat fascinated by geek cultures, and, while not being the best-socialised person I know, am certainly better socialised than some geeks I’ve met. If I’m any kind of expert, it’s only because nobody else wants to be.
If you’ve got any subject you’d like me to cover here on GE, or something you think I should link to, please suggest it. Better yet, if you have something you care about deeply, you might like to write a guest post. Sometimes I solicit guest posts if I happen to find you writing about geek etiquette subjects elsewhere; if you get an email from me and don’t know how I found you, it was probably by trawling “etiquette” tags on Technorati or del.icio.us.
Nobody’s asked me yet, but if you’d like me to write or speak about this subject, I’d probably be interested. I’m up for anything from a guest post on another blog to speaking at user groups or conferences. Drop me a line.
You can find my contact details over here.
